Sexual Violence Awareness
The Women’s Center and Student Services are working together to provide more sexual assault awareness opportunities/resources in line with a recent amendment to House Bill 3677 which requires public schools and colleges to provide sexual assault education to their students. This section of the Women’s Center website will include links to county agencies, CLC sexual violence workshop/presentation updates, and downloaded resources, as they are made available. HB 4081 passed and goes into effect on 1/1/2010 – Ensures Access to health Care and Evidence Collection for Sexual Assault Victims with Disabilities. This allows al sexual assault victims to consent to their own health care without the consent of a guardian, health care surrogate or health care power of attorney. It also allows a victim who has a guardian, health care surrogate or health care power of attorney to release his or her own forensic evidence if the victim is unable to do so or if the guardian, health care surrogate or health care power of attorney will not release the evidence, allows law enforcement to do so.
